G7 owners pleae help me out

I am about to purchase a G7. Since it doesnt take CF cards I need some new storage media. About how many pics can you get on a 1GB card shooting at the highest setting?
How is the macro on this? What is the closest focusing distance?

Also, if anyone knows of any deals on a G7 (new or used) let me know!

The macro is very good; you can focus within mm of the end of the lens (unless there's glass reflections at the surface you're trying to focus on, then it struggles, in my experience).

I think you can get ~230 shots on a 1GB card at the highest settings; I get ~460 on a 2GB card.

Best deal, IMO: Costco (online only - not available in stores), where they add a 2GB memory card to the G7 for ~$490. If you need the memory card anyway, that brings the camera price in line with the cheapest online sources, and you get a 90-day trial with full return privileges if you have a Costco close enough to return it to.

Yeah, I got about 230 when shooting at the highest res. I took that down one and found some of the noise gets removed for better overall pictures. I want a 2 gig, but got a great deal on a ultra II and an extreem III
