In a nutshell, NO. I might be able to give you a more specific answer if you gave me a more specific question.

Okay, this is the details, is there any different with the RAW format that is produced by Canon 300D, 10D and 1D?
And how about Canon 300D and PowerShot G5?
thanks & regards,

Or to be more specific, if I had software that can read 10D RAW format, can it also read RAW files that come out from 300D? or even the next generation of EOS digital.

They are different.
When I went from the G3 to the Rebel, some software that worked for the G3 Raw either wouldnt work with Rebel, or needed to be updated.
So basically, it depends on the software.
However, since the Rebel has been available for some time, most programs like Breezebrowser will work for both.
C1 Pro, however, will work with most EOS cameras, but not with the G series.

In BreezeBrowser, you have to select the camera body you are working with from the preferences menu before you can convert a file.

Actually, why I'm asking this question, is because I want to buy a portable storage solution like flashtrax, x-drive, etc.
I'm interested with product named phototainer from innoplus, a portable storage with LCD viewing display. It claims that it can view many raw format from leading manufacturer like canon, nikon, pentax, etc. But the drebel isn't there, then I ask the customer service, and she said that it should be working with drebel also.
Is this because personal strorage like phototainer only extract preview/thumbnail embedded inside the raw files? so it don't need actualy to know how to read the raw data, it only need to know how to extract the preview/thumbnail? maybe.. just my though.

I agree. Canon RAW files are not exactly the same. They are similar, but not the same among all Canon digital cameras.
As you might guess, that is why there are few RAW viewers in the portable storage drives. They would have to include a separate RAW viewer for each brand of camera and each model of camera. That isn't very practical.
That is why the portable storage drives with display are popular among the shooters of JPEG, but they are not so popular among the shooters of RAW.
I shoot only RAW, and my portable storage drive has no display.
Normally when you install software on your computer to convert RAW files to TIF, then a specific driver is used for your camera brand and model.

Most likely those devices just show you the embedded JPEG image in the CRW file. Converting the RAW data to something that can be displayed would take far too much time (even a fast Intel processor needs more than a few seconds) and it's also not necessary, as the screen of those devices isn't so large that you'll need a full resolution image.

Most CRW files do not contain embedded JPEGs. Some do.
