Try Microsoft's SyncToy, a free download from the web site.

That's not what ghost is for. SyncToy, RoboCopy, or a proper backup utility.

I cannot recommend this product highly enough. It has saved my life on more than one occasion. It will either backup (image) an entire disk - even WHILE you work, or you can tell it to backup just certain folders.
A new feature of the latest version 10 is it will take a copy of an application's configuration, so if you ever need to reset it back to a specific moment it time your ready to go.
There's a downloadable trial if you want to give it a try.

I use Cobian Backup (http://www.educ.umu.se/~cobian/cobianbackup.htm). Supports full, incremental, diferential and other types of backup. It does more than I need. Highly advisable! And it is free.

Acronis true image (Awesome program) is a lot like Ghost,. both are used fro full system back ups, and are NOT the best choice for data back up..
Certainly they are the farthest thing from a solution intended to back up a single directory. (for those interested a free app that works similarly, though less robust and intuitive) is "Bart PE")
Among the myriad back up programs out there, the one I find that stands out in unique functionality dept. is "Mirror Folder"
As the name implies, it is used to mirror specific folders or directories. It can be used to do so in "real time" with a software based RAID that will tackle entire drives or specific folders, or it can be used to do incremental mirroring at scheduled times, or when external backup media is detected and present.
Very flexible tool.
Now, what I am still looking for is an automated incremental/differential back up program that saves it's destination to 4GB DVD ISO files! ;)

Guess you haven't had a look at version 10 then?
It is now able to do any type of backup you would want, from individual folders, to file types, to config files. Full image, to incremental, to differential. My life has been saved on more than one occasion.
Click the link I left above.... as you say, it's an awsome program - that just got even better!

I use Robocopy - freely available from MS. Add a few command-line switches, and it'll do a "replicate" copy meaning it only copies files that have changed, added, and removes files from the destination that are removed from the source.
I run a script using robocopy nightly to backup my media drives.
If anyone would like an example script, LMK.
PS - robocopy can be deadly if mis-used, as if you mix up source and destination, it'll wipe out your source.

Tried Microsoft Backup? Highly configurable and you can schedule it as well. I use it to backup my flash drives at work all the time, wrote my own batch file to run every time I mount the drive.

Whoa! Not a good idea for a backup procedure. The last thing you would want is to have your one-and-only backup copy removed automatically 'cos you deleted a file in error!

Don't buy direct though. Get it from Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16832200003). It is cheaper.:)

What are you currently doing? Could you do incremental/diferntial backups to a new folder, burn the contents of the new folder to DVD once it reaches 4GB and then move that folder's contents to another folder or mark it as Archived to DVD?
