That is a great shot, Pio! I remember riding with a friend when I was about 12. He had the best bike and we rode all over Brooklyn. Never heard of a helmet then. But I don't have a picture. You caught one! Great job.

I remember riding on a bike the way the girl is riding -- standing up & hanging on. Not comfortable, but it gets you there. The shot brings back memories.

Thanks for looking and for the kind comments all! I am glad that it has evoked some pleasant memories. Bikes have a special place in my heart, I really love these efficient machines, so much so that I am involved in bike advocacy. I believe that their use is a critical to having cleaner and more sustainable cities. Ok, I will get off my soapbox now :)
I have no idea if they have a car or not. Most probably the guy is just ferrying the girl to her destination which most probably is just a few blocks away. These distances that are a bit too far to walk but such a hassle to drive a car (traffic, looking for parking space, etc) are perfect for bikes.
I wish the photo was a bit sharper too. I took this while I was on a bike ride myself. I always carry a camera with me, this time a G6 that I set to pre-focused hyperfocal focusing so that the camera will not spend time focusing. It is great for street shooting. Unfortunately i had very little time to stop the bike, extract the camera from my messenger bag, compose the photo and snap away. If I had more time i would have set the camera to a higher shutter speed to freeze the action, but I didn't have the luxury. Anyway, i believe that most street shots are technically flawed, but it's all about capturing the moment. That's my defense and I am sticking to it! :)
Thanks again, all, the comments are very much appreciated. By the way, mx220, tsw, are you in NYC? Some of us are having a photo meet on Sunday, April 22, check it out here. (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=305148)

Bobby, perhaps I should try out that tactic :)
Ronnie, I am glad that someone noticed that! It's one of those fancy car tints for SUV's.
