i understand it, but i once put up an image regarding depth of field and aperture and was chastised for it not showing the 1/3 v 2/3 ratio of fore and aft depth of field around the focal point. would you mind if i reworked you image a little sometime down the line? to show what i mean ?

i think that in your diagram, you need to actually show the vertical circle of confusion on the line where the film would be.
