I actually bought some Kingston 50x Elite pro(2gb) before I knew about the extreme III. I haven't opened the Kingston yet and am wondering if the performance difference would be great enough between the two to warrant my sending the Kingston back to Amazon and ordering the Sandisk. I don't know if I'll be doing continuous mode much. But I read somewhere (amazon review of extreme III) that the shutter lag of the G7 was helped overall by the Sandisk Extreme III.
I'm hoping it won't be that big of a difference as there will be some downtime that I'll be without any memory. (getting camera on Wed.) Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.

I don't think the G7 is a fast enough camera to make a difference...

Shutter lag is a mechanical/electrical function of the camera that has nothing to do with the memory card or the speed of it. Take what you read on amazon.com with a grain of salt if it's not a manufacturer provided specification...ESPECIALLY a user review!

cdifoto is correct. Shutter lag (the elapsed time between pressing the shutter and the camera sensor capturing the image) has nothing to do with the write-speed of a memory card. If you want to overcome shutter lag, you'll need to get a DSLR.

Thats great news.I thought as much about the shutter speed that didn't make any sense but I needed to be sure there wasn't some pother good reason to get the faster memory. I can just keep what I have then. Thank you very much for your responses. Tomorrows the big day then...I'm very excited.
