I'm still on 1.5 and I really would need to upgrade to 2...

First questions is: Should I upgrade or do a new install? In 1.5 I have edited the colors and also added a custom header to the site (links to other places on my site).

Also, when I try to do a backup in 1.5, it iodes not work, I get amessage saying "The requested URL /gallery/input/backup/index.php was not found on this server."

I guess I shoudl not even think of upgarding until I have a backup...

Also, does version 2 come with the ability to protect photos from "right click/save as"?

I am a big fan of EE, but obviously a bit clueless to the process , so some guidance would be much much appreciated!!!

Upgrade. Currently it's the only way to install 2.0 and above (an upgrade over 1.5).

I'm not too sure why your backup isn't working, you should really have done a test backup when you installed the previous version while it was all fresh in your mind.

I ftp"ed the folder that contains the old (current) EE install over to my local workstation. Is this a sufficient "backup"?

Only of the php code. The backup actually backs up the mySQL database.

And no, not doing a backup as soon as you can isn't a neccessarily bad thing, but it helps to know you have things configured correctly before moving on to the upgrade process.

Basically, the upgrade assumes that the previous version is installed correctly, so if you have problems with the upgrade process, it can be hard to diagnose.

I get this whne trying to perform step #11 in the upgrade... HELP!!!!

Unable to connect to the photo database
This error message means the database can not be accessed.
It could also also mean that the database server is overloaded.

marjo, did you do a bu of the database?

as far as 1.5 versus 2.2 i have tried both and i prefer 1.5. it is way faster and i like the old look. 2.2 has a ton more features and is supposed to be safer. you can do a fresh install, directions are in this forum, just do fresh install of 1.5, then upgrade to 2.2.

I did the upgrade... and luckliy for me it went quite ok... hey, felt a little bit like "gambling", but I needed some excitement in my life anyway;)

But I have been rooting around in the setiings and in the code and for the life of me... I cannot figure out the floowing:

1) Where do I put in the hex for the colors if I want to change the background color of where the "news" go

2) How can I edit the index page to only have ONE row for eaxh exhibit rather than thumbs from TWO exhibits on each row

3) And where... oh WHERE... do I add my custome header with links to the other pages on my site????

If I could figure this out I would be happy as a clam!!! :p:p:p
