Is this a good lense, I have not read any comments on it here so I was wondering if anyone here uses it. I would like it for indoor sports, I have been offered a near new mint condition example for the stunning price $850 USD with hard case & lense hood. The person who is selling it has sold off all his Canon gear and has given up photography this is his last lense.

I can't find any info on it on the Canon webpage, is it still in production, if it isn't when did production stop.

It's an old lens (Nov 1988 introduction) not actually produced, but not replaced by anything similar neither. It was an excellent lens. Just Buy It :). This is the page from Canon Museum.
