I was perusing through my files sorting and I came across this extremely underexposed photo from inside a church (I'm not sure which one, but it's in Cambridge). In an attempt to save it, it came out really grainy, so I converted it to monochrome and this is the end result. Think it was saved? or should it be purged with my "oops" shots?

Just straighten it up a tad and you've got a keeper. Also think about cropping at the sign, give it a symmetrical look.

there lots of distractions on the picture anyway, like the barrier, that 'thing' at the right and the table on the left.
furtheremore, the picture doesn't even look straight.
as for the look of the picture itself, you should post it the original so comparisons can be made and i think it looks a bit too grainy.

Sorry, can't post the original. I shot this in JPEG the first week I got the camera over a year ago, and I saved over it. I tried to edit out the distractions.. it's kind of obvious.. but oh well. My PS skills suck. :)

Edit* On second thought, this might be Ely Cathedral...

less grain definetely looks less 'messy'. to fair, it would have been nicer if the shot was taken right from the centre to create some symmetry.
however, you culd just crop out all the seating at the bottom, and probably crop the sides a bit just to make it narrower so you can bring out that dark bit at the end of the church.
then possible reduce the contrast a little, so that end doesn't look so dark, but ensure you leave enough contrast so that the blacks look prominent.

I see a very ominous and foreboding building...

I like your first edit and crop more than the second. I can see where Pebble is coming from, though, and would like to see your results from exploring that route more.

Alrighty..... Contrast reduced, cropped it just above the chairs and the sides a tad.

nah, maybe that didn't work so well.
the 3rd image you posted is the best,
it seems that the all the cropping on the 4th image just made it look a bit cramped...my bad

haha, well, thanks for the advice, it was fun messing with an otherwise stuffed picture.
