I used to read the forums on DP Review everyday, however, about 3 months ago I clicked on the link one day in my favorites and it came up with the typical page cannot be found message. I tried it on two different computers at home (using a comcast cable modem), one computer at work (using a dial up modem) and a computer at my dad's house far away from here (using adelphia service). Each time I cannot get the page to come up.

Does anyone have any ideas? I even click on the links you guys post to dp review every now and then to check something out, but it always comes up page cannot be displayed.

Very frustrating.

er.....

Any chance you had used the PC's at home,. the one at work AND the one at your Dad's house to acces the DPReveiw forum Prior to the first time you got a "page not found" message?

Just curious...

Yeah, I used to read dpreview at home and on my laptop at work everyday. And had the link in my favorites. Then, without changing anything, one day I tried to get into the site, and it came up with the not able to find or display page. I was a faithful reader of the site for a long time until about three or four months ago. I really have no idea what is wrong. Especially since whenever I see a link on this forum for something in dpreview, I click on it and still cant get into it. I have tried doing system restore, restoring the internet options to default etc with no success. I can see it happening to one computer if the settings get messed up, but to have it happen to a few computers with different internet companies has me baffled.

Any ideas I would really appreciate.

Maybe your computers are tired of reading all the flaming messages in the DPreview forums. I'm sorry this post doesn't help you. I just needed to say there seems to be a bit to much BS over there.

Crash,

I have my suspicions on what the problem may be.. I am trying to find a contact at DpReview to see if they can answer this for us...

I'll let you know as soon as they get back to me.

I just now clicked on a link to DPR from this forum. The page that came up said "We know about the problem" SQL something or other.

I then tried the link about four more times until it did open and then all was fine

Thanks CDS for looking into this - I will anxiously be waiting to hear what you find out... and John, I dont get the page that says we know about the problem, but maybe I will try clicking on the link several more times.

I would like to start reading DPR again, but this forum is pretty darn good, too.

Thanks!

Strange...no problem getting to the reviews from here.

A couple of questions:

Are you able to get to the main site (www.dpreview.com) by entering the URL?

Are you linking directly to the "Reviews" section (www.dpreview.com/reviews/) or directly to a specific review? If so, they may have done some re-indexing on their database that has broken some direct links.

Chs4,

Ive tried both typing in the url directly to the homepage and clicking on links to reviews. Nothing works on any of the computers.... I also have Norton Systemworks and Internet Security. Had them when it worked, too. But even so, I tried disabling both of them and it still wont work. I dont know what other settings there are to change.
