Great character study. The composition is impecable. You had to wrestle with the full day sun, and still you captured skin tones. Sadly though the highlights have burnt out in her sweater and to a degree on her jeans. Question... could rendering this in color instead of B&W helped preserve some information in those highlight areas which would keep the eye from pulling the viewer's imagination away from the subject which your strict composition has done so much to reinforce?
Thanks for sharing... it's a strong urban study.

I love this shot, makes me think, and wander. I like the brick on the left, I would crop heavily on the right. (just my opinion) but I really like it. Thanks for sharing Marie

Nice piece of street photography. Very well done. The B&W really works on this.

thanks a lot Ted
I agree with you about the highlights burnt out on part of her clothes
here's the colour version
some detail which you mention is still missing
I think I slightly missed out on the focus on the girl herself and got the blue behind her more sharply
half afraid she would look up and see me and maybe get insulted
there was another girl further down and I wanted to get a shot of her too
but I certainly didn't want them to feel I was making a spectacle of them
just a few shots for history
I sharpened it slightly . it may show too much
but without it is not an improvement
if I had had time (without being spotted too much) I would have changed the lens as the distance across the street was maybe a little too far for the 60mm

thanks very much Stan
you'd probably love it around there . all cobbled streets and alleys
I like the brickwork too and wanted to leave that part in
I think if cropped tighter (on the right) where the girl is standing would lose its 'impact' and she would be 'just there' standing around.
leaving more on the dark side emphasizes the light on the girl
many thanks for your opinions
they..... and all ........are much appreciated
:D

the contrast is brilliant.
the pitch black on the right gives a good sense of mystery.
keep the right!!!

I think the dead space gives it a feeling of restitute and solitude...I like it.

I've been wanting to take that exact same shot for a while now -- it's a shame female models don't walk into my home. I love the picture, my interpretation had a 'No Loitering' sign at the far right however (and I didn't think of the 7-up bottle).

Very interesting shot...aside from the black and white version..you could do a lot with "artistic" post processing!
