No and I would not use it for that. The AF is too slow.

Push your ISO with a 24-70 and you're much better off.

If you just wanted a fast 50 the 1.4 is a much better choice for sports. Not very fast AF but far better Han the lens on this thread.

I beg to differ. I used the 85L for hockey and it performed a hell of a lot better than I would have thought. The AF wasn't lightning fast but I still got 3/4 of my shots. If you are panning with the subjects you should be fine.

I think it was released in 2005, but it could have been 2006 as well.

IOW, you'll have to wait at least another 4 years, if not longer.

Well, your investment would be pretty safe regardless. Canon is not going to release a 50L Mark II any time soon, but if they did, it would likely be $2000+. Judging by how the 24L/24Lii pricing, and the 70-200 2.8L IS/mark II pricing... you're going to be safe. :lol:

I had the same issue and it was caused by the color space I was using. My color space was set to aRGB when exporting - I changed it to sRGB and that did the trick.

yup did all of that. Set the WB to custom, etc... I was using CS5 to stitch and followed a tut the exact way they described. But what happens is that 4-5 photos end up being stitched but they look horrible and the next 10 other photos just don't get stitched in.

Thank you, I didn't expect this shot to turn out as well as I thought it did, because my hands were getting colder by the second. I forgot to put my gloves on haha.

Went to a birthday part last night to take some band photos and a few birthday pictures.

I was so happy that I can shoot all day long in low light with a 50L @ 1.2 with the 430 EX II attached.

Hehe it was, I learned my lesson after using my flash for the very first time. I think I kept my flash power south of 1/16th power most of the time.

Yeah that is what I found. If in fact I get to try it again tonight I will I just hope it isn't dark. I did manage to get 3 or so good keepers but they aren't nearly as wide as I wanted them to be.

Never even considered this lens, but I scored a crazy deal locally on a 2 month old copy and I have been nothing short of amazed by this lens. It is plenty sharp at 1.2, love the build, and its AF is the most accurate I have personally ever used.

If you can fit the entire subject in one frame move further back. The idea is capturing an image wider than a single frame.

For example if I do a full body brenizer, a single frame may only fit mid torso to head (or possible only a headshot, depending on how wide I want the final shot)... then you take multiple (overlapped) images of the entire subject and intended framed background.

I don't wanna answer for him but since I've owned this lens I could share some input as I have the 35 as well.

My 50 was definitely something! I can say though that it wasn't nearly as sharp as the 35L. If you need the extra stop go for it cause this lens can produce some magnificent images!

I think that the 50 has better contrast vs. the 35 though. I actually miss my 50L badly but I'm satisfied with the 35 as it does what I need it to do. If I go FF I might consider selling the 35 again for the 50 though.
