Does EE 1.22 have internal FTP?

I uploaded EE 1.5 and found out that it uses an internal FTP, which for some reason does not work with my web host provider and their firewalls. So I was wondering if I used EE 1.22 instead to get around this problem for now. I'm not sure if EE 1.22 uses a FTP to upload pictures? Any thoughs on this would be greatly appreciated!

I just realized a very simple way of adding 1.22 style manual input with EXIF/IPTC/XMP reading to EE1.5. You use the normal upload page with a new special switch which disables ftp and resize, else it is just like with them. Then you just ftp the resized images to server using normal ftp. I'll post it here in a hour or so for testing.
