Models and advice on getting a photo printer for the house. Will be used to print candid family shots for photo albums and give to friends. Will also be used for generic print duties around the house (recipes, emails etc...)
I will spend the bigger bucks on the occasional professional print on nice shots, but this is just going to be a printer for the house.
Thanks in advance.
FYI-I shoot a Canon g5.

For these purposes, get an Epson C82 or 84 and be happy. You can also do quadtone B&W work with them as well. For $99 it's a steal for this type of duty.

M2,
I'm extremely pleased with my i960. Excellent print quality, great colors, good print speed for photos. Per print cost is lower then many competitors because of the individual ink tanks. I calculated my cost at about $.45/print, including everything except the printer itself. Since you're using a Canon camera, it's quite easy to also print photos directly from the camera.
You can read other comments from this forum on that printer by searching the archives.
BTW, third-party inks are available and cheaper, but there can be significant print quality degradation.

I also have the Canon i960. I ordered a 4x6 from a professional printer and compared it to the same one I printed on my i960... I couldnt tell a difference.
I am extremely happy with the Canon i960.

I got a Canon i560 recently from amazon.com. After rebate it's around $90. Not too bad. And the photo prints is amazing. Several people who have seen the photos I printed with i560 have commented that they look very professional.

It doesn't? I could have sworn it had that "direct print" deal. or is that where you plug the camera itself into the printer?
