I snapped a few shots of the crescent moon last night with the 100-400, and a few plain star shots with the 85 1.8. While playing with them in PS, I thought maybe combining them might make a more interesting shot than just the black background you get when shooting the moon. What do you think?

I like it. Nice exposure of the moon, too.

I agree. The stars added a lot to the picture. I thought the moon shot was particularly good too. Very detailed and crisp.

Thank you all for the input and kind comments. I'd like to try to get away from the city lights next time, to try to get more stars in the star shot (without the trails behind them like in the picture). I tried for 20 years to get a moon shot to turn out and wasted countless rolls of film (yeah I know, I'm old) in the attempt. So now since I learned how to get them thanks to this forum, it's hard to resist going out on clear nights to get some fresh moon shots:D

I took quite a few shots experimenting with different settings, but this one was 1/125 sec., f/8, at ISO 100. Taken with the XTi and the 100-400L with a Kenko 1.4x Pro 300 T/C.
