Hey guys.
Tomorrow I'm going to the Perth Motor Show and just wondered if there was any tips regarding photography cars in particular anyone can throw my way?!
Normally I do not do this category with landscapes (and random abstract stuff I like :D), so if there is anything people can give tips on it would be greatly appreciated!
Also, with this situation, does anyone have any preferences on metering?
Thanks
matt

Best advice I can give is to plan to stay late when some cars have left to give you room to isolate them, & the light is better.

Some angles work better than others. You need to "see" the difference.

any preferences on metering?
Every highlight may not be one that you need to keep, so I need to decide what is most important in each shot. With cars, I prefer to start with a white "white", & let overly bright reflections blow out.

Most important, have some fun doing it! Post a few shots in Transportation after.

Don't restrict yourself to the whole car. Quite often you'll have people walking in front of you if you try and get the whole car in shot (unless you go ultra wide angle)
Go for some detail shots...

Or look for some quirky things that many people miss. This can was propping someones bonnet (hood for you yanks!) up...

the chances of getting a clean shot of a car are pritty low so get in tight and close
e.g
taken on the side of a busy main road too many cars and people mulling around to get a full shot

taken on a busy show feild (wheels day biggest one day show in europe) and taken at 2 oclock goes to show you dont have to weight til later to get a good shot

also i shoot at 20mm so i dont have to be stood too far away which can help with people walking infrot of the camera and stopping to have a chat center of the shot
also dont be afriad to make some noise to clear people out of the shot most people dont mind moving theve just go to be told
