Don't pick on evilenglishman. I'm think he and I must be distant relatives (even though my family has been here for at least 4 generations). I'm even considering changing my name to Evil Belmondo.

FWIW, I don't have a Mk II yet. I'm in Reno, Nevada, taking pictures with my 10D and having a high old time. The Mk II will come when it comes, and not a moment sooner.

Those of you who've gotten them, I share your joy. Those who have them on order but haven't received them yet, I share your frustration. Those of you who haven't ordered one, I admire your restraint.

Thosey.

It's not that your posts are annoying. It's that it seems you go out of your way to be condescending and critical of what people post, rather then provide helpful information.
But that's just my opinion.

Man... I'm jealous. My wife said to cancel my order for the MkII or find a new wife.

I thought about it for a while... but after 25 years I guess I'll keep her

hummm... I'll have to think of a devious way to reorder one later this year or settle for an old used 1D to get the 8fps.

Now what can I do to make her feel guilty!

Jon:
Your priorities are all screwed up. I'm sure she's a good woman, and granted, 25 years is a long time. On the other hand, we're talking 8.5 fps. What could possibly matter more?

Nope, get the camera and let her decide then if she still want's to hang around. If she doesn't, you have a great camera and a lot more free time on your hands to enjoy it.

Intentionally take horrible photos and claim that you can no longer enjoy life because your camera is obviously inadequate, thus ruining your enjoyment for the hobby and causing you to take up crack to kill time.

I'm new around here, and new to DSLR photography. Heck, I'm still trying to learn all that I can do with my DRebel. No way in the world I could justify the cost of a MkII, and if I could, it would be wasted on me at this stage in my learning process.

But I'm excited for all those getting the newest technology, and I'm looking forward to reading about (and learning from) all the posts about that new camera. Maybe I'll be buying one used off one of you in 18 months. :)

Nice one  to you guys with the MKII's, knowing how excited I was when the 10D arrived, I'm pleased for you and for one am genuinely glad you share it around. Bit too much green eyed monster around here at present for my liking. By all accounts it is a bit of a landmark camera and some of that technology is bound to cascade down the Canon model line up at more affordable prices. That is something for the rest of us to look forward to IMHO.

This camera is AWESOME!!!!1 I had the 10D and for taking action 8.5fps is like night and day. The camera is heavy but its worth its weight! I will be shooting this weekend and will post some results.

I picked it up on Friday, what a camera. OMG!!

I took a lot of shots but I underexposed all of them. They didin't come out that great but it was the first day.

NiL,

Were you using evaluative metering? At least the image you posted is exposed correctly based on that system.

Got my Canon 85 1.2L today - now I just need the MarkII to try it on (10D is here waiting for it, too, but I decided no more virgin lenses for 10D, it has had its share :) ) .... this wait is so painful.

I took my Mark II to work on Friday and outside on Saturday. The exposures were dead on, even in difficult situations. The AEL* worked very well also.

Probably, I tried so many settings. I always shoot underexposed in the bright sun light thinking it is goingto help. This time it didn't.

I love the lens, the 85 1.4 is suppose to be great. I plan on getting that lens next. I want so many lenses that it is hard to choose. I just purchased the 180Macro but wished I had got the 85 1.4 instead.

I take so many portraits with the 100-400 L 5.6 that I don't know if I really need the 85 1.4 but I know I do. It will come in handy.

I can't wait for you to get your MKII, it is going to be so wonderful. It is a real camera to me. My 10D feels like the G3 now. LOL

OH !!!
So, E-TTL II didn't correct the underexposured issues !
Hmmm....

OH !!!
So, E-TTL II didn't correct the underexposured issues !
Hmmm....

Most likely it is programmed to follow selected ambient light exposure - if that is on "low" side ETTL-2 won't flood it with light either. After all ETTL (old one too) is designed to keep feel of ambient light exposure mostly intact. Also, it meters to AF point which may confuse some (there are 45 now).

I'll check that out when I get mine.
