Freaking sweet! I'm a huge Larry David fan, and it looks like you caught him well. Any chance at seeing a tighter crop or a shot taken with a lens with a bit more reach?

Did some cropping on a shot because I was using a 50mm prime so I had no zooming capabilities. I love Larry David and I got a picture with him :D

Why post nokin pictures in a canon forum? Just curious.
Nice otherwise. The lighting must have been great to be able to shoot at ISO 200 and 400.

I like this forum - and I consider it a Photography forum, not just a Canon forum.

Lighting was there, but not well designed at all. I'm part of the organization that put on this show, so I knew when we were putting up the light cans that it wasn't going to be great. We had a Dashboard Confessional show last semester and the lights were all digital - it was unbelievable, but I didn't have my camera then

Well, in fact, it's a Canon Photography forum (look at the forum title and logos). But, with nice pictures like this, I don't think many will mind. I was just curious.

You say the lighting wasn't great, but most theatre lighting I've seen you need at least ISO1600 to get enough light to the sensor. So, you are lucky to have enough brightness to start. The 2nd picture (of Larry David) is my favourite by far. Being such a fan of his work, if that was mine, I would print it large and hang it up!

Hey, Drisley, if you can't be nice be quiet! There are no rules suggesting that images taken with non-Canon equipment are forbidden and I don't think anyone put you in charge.

My apologies for coming across as rude to the original poster and dwight.
I guess my original posts were misunderstood as being offensive, when that wasn't my intention.

It's gotten a lot colder in here for some reason...Temps will be in the 80's tomorrow and I still feel the cold...

Performing Arts is a pretty happy section of this forum... Let's keep it that way...

Play nice guys...

Nice images.
Some (like #1, 3, 4 and 5) are a bit too 'centralised' composition wise. Also, I'd crop some a bit.

Funny, until 2 weeks ago I never heard of her...

Got a CD of her "Best Songs", and now suddenly her name is popping up nearly every day...

Nice pictures, #2 is my favorite though ;)

I find it hard to imagine Larry David speaking about a serious issue :)
Anybody else notice how similar looking Cheryl Hines and Sheryl Crow are?

on the last image i think its good if only a little bit more and the whole guitar, but i like it anyway.

Yeah he must of been funny or was he being serious?

He did a stand up act, but included a few global warming jokes in there, like about how he has to use special recycled toilet paper :)

Thanks for the additional shot, man; i appreciate it.

Even though you're a Nikon user, I'm glad that you posted these here. ;)

I can get along with Canon users just fine. But PC users, that's another story!

frankly, i would love to see a thread where both a canon and nikon user post pics from the same show or at least tour [ie. the same lighting set up and routine used].

that would be interesting to see any difference.

EXIFs are available, but the camera and lenses were a Canon 20D w/ mostly a Tamron 28-75 2.8, sometimes the 50 1.8

I think the main difference between our shots is that I was at 800/1600 most of the time. That's mostly a product of the fact that I needed the higher ISO for a few shots, and was too lazy to bother changing it most of the time.

#1 and 3 look overexposed beyond recovery in ACR...
Watch out for that.
Also, all of the files look like a bit too much 'recovering' of highlights and shadows was done IMO.

Nice framing and timing though.

Nice framing and timing though.Yeah, mine were shot for a newspaper, so 1) I wasn't all that interested/concerned since I only needed one shot, and 2) the shadows/highlights, etc. were all adjusted for printing purposes (and our printer prints dark).
