I'm looking at the 85mm f/1.8 or the 100mm f/2. I've read a lot of posts about the 85 but not so many about the 100. I wouldn't think the f/1.8 vs. f/2 is a big deal, so how about the IQ for the aperture range? Looking at my EXIF files it seems I do a lot of low light/no flash pics. I would be using this for portraits and close-up motorsports.

Thanks!

The 85mm f/1.8 and 100mm f/2.0 lenses are pretty much the same animal - the difference ion focal length is minimal. On a crop body I'd go for the 85mm lens, simply because 100mm works out as pretty long. On a full frame or film body 100mm is the classic portrait length.

Having said all that, I'd get 85mm for portraits and 100mm macro - for portraits and close up stuff. If I could only have one, I'd get the macro lens myself - it is slower to AF though, and some find that unacceptable. Really it depends what you want the lens for.
