This Canada Goose is what is called Leusistic, where some of the feather loose their black pigment so look this warm buff colour, picture was taken at Shibdon Pond Gateshead Tyne and Wear.

Nice catch. I've only seen this in pictures. Must be weird to see it for real.

Maybe it is old age. Grey feathers instead of gray hair! Ha ha!

Due to the normalish marking son the neck and head I'd say this was a hybrid with a Farm Goose of Greylag derivitive.

I sought the information from our resident bird expert and what Ive said is what he said, it not a hybrid just the lack of pigment in the gooses feathers, hence its called Leusitic.

Ouch - so you're fairly convinced that your bird expert knows more than myself and that I'm not an "expert" myself??

This was my first thought too so I'm with davewalters on this one.

The yellowish legs are a dead give away. Canada geese have solid black legs.

The neck is too short also, for a otherwise normal Canada, isn't it?

Ok I'll agree to disagree, Ive never seen one before so asked our local "Birder" so its a funny coloured goose, I have seen a goose at Low Hauxley that was a Greylag/Canada Goose Hybrid and that was a funny looking thing too, but not this light buff colour.

The same thought crossed my mind too, Dave...
