Just got back from Vacation and have some pics to share. This is my first time at a motorsport event with my camera. Usually I don't have time for photos as I am a ex-race official. I was promised Media passes but CCWS gave to many out so they had to give me Front Straight grandstands. Was kinda bummed by that but it worked out. I found a parking garage at turn 5 that allowed me to get some decent shots.

I have a Cannon EOS 20D & it wasn't till I got home that I notice that I wasn't running the right shutter speed the whole time I was there but here is what I got. (Would have known sooner but the girl freind lost the lap top lol)

Nice pics! What lens did you use?

I'd like to shoot a Champ Car event someday. I just see them on TV at my part of the world.

I used a Cannon Ultrasonic 70-300mm lens.

Kevin,

I was on the section of wall Alex Figge crashed into on Sunday. I mean, if there was no wall, he would have taken my legs out. Good news is that hes ok. I shot the entire extraction process. I also got Tracy into turn 1 right before he crashed. Did you stay for the Speed race and happen to see the 2 Vipers head on into the tires in turn 1?

No I missed it because I had the GirlFriend with me and she is a downer at tracks :lol: . I was able to get Katherine Legge Spinning in between turn 9 & 10 (1st Practice Session) + the atlantic race turn 1 crash but I got it from turn 5 lol. I also got the tail end of Jani sliding to a stop in turn 5 at the tire wall during the first Qualifying.

I was surprise to see as much action as I did. Was a great weekend for weather and everything. I will post a link to the other pics I took.

Cool pics! the only thing I would suggest is to try and get the whole vehicle in the picture, IMO it would look better.
