I got my external CD burner with the Roxio software for christmas. The thing is, when I put the CD in another computer it always says the computer has to download the Roxio reader file to be able to read the CD. It's annoying and sometimes it just says it won't read the CD at all, not even the reader thingy comes up.

Anyway has a problem with Roxio? I have Easy CD Creator Basic v6.1

Are you burning a CD-RW and then trying to read it in a another PC which isn't Windows 2000 or Windows XP? If so, you'll need to download the UDF program from Roxio and install it on the other PC to read the CD-RW. This is because the format used for burning a CD-RW is not a universal protocol (but W2K and WinXP takes care of that).

If you want to share your CD with other PCs, you should burn them on CD-Rs instead using EZCD-Creater instead of DirectCD.

If you backup your files and it takes multiple discs to backup everything it will require the reader. The reason for this is because it splits information, sometimes from the same file. For example part of say IMG 1001 will be partially on one disc and partially on another. If you load enough information for one disc and then burn and make sure you finalize the CD you should not have this problem. Then continue backing up your files one CD at a time.
