Gonna try to calibrate my laptop screen. Does PS 6 have that function or do I have to use the CS that I got with my DRebel?

You got Photoshop CS with a Drebel? Or, did you get Elements?

I don't know if Elements has the calibration program or not, nor do i know if PS6 has it. I do know tha PS CS has it. It's not great, but it will work....sort of.

A much better solution is to buy a Spyder.

I think pretty much all PS versions including PSE2 have it. If it was installed with your version of PS it should be in the Windows Control Panel.

You didn't get Photoshop CS with your Rebel, or you must've been very lucky somehow.... :) but probably you got Photoshop Elements 2.0 with it. Adobe Gamma, Adobe's software tool for calibrating and profiling your monitor, also comes with PS Elements. I guess your laptop is a PC (not a Mac) - look in Control Panel for Adobe Gamma.

Note, Adobe Gamma doesn't really work well to calibrate and profile your screen. If you really want to do it accurately, you need a device like a Spyder (http://www.colorvision.com). ColorVision now sells a relatively cheap package (ColorPlus), which includes a Spyder and software.

With Adobe Gamma, you're using your own eyes as the color measuring device and your eyes are very inaccurate at estimating colors - how you see colors depends on a lot of things, such as the ambient light, what you've been looking at the last few minutes, if you're tired or not, how much coffee you had (really!) etc....

It would be helpful to know what kind of equiptment you are running including monitor, graphics card, and software. Are you on a Mac Platform or a PC Platform?
