View Full Version : Zoombrowser no longer used camera folder in PC file names

I recently upgraded to Zoombrowser 4.5.1. In the past, download assigned the camera's folder and file numbers for PC file name (xxx_yyyy.JPG). Now it is only using the file number (IMG_yyyy.JPG). That means the every 10,000 photos, I get the same file name, which can be very confusing. If I use the option that assigns a file name prefix, the numbers start with 0001, instead of the camera assigned number.

I use seperate folders to organize my photos. But I also used the unique camera assigned numbers to keep track when I copy and rename the files for other purposes, such as using it in a product. Is there still a way to keep the camera's number but distinquish new photos from old ones?

I hate it when a feature that I count on goes away.

Thanks for any help.

I have exactly the same problem. I've used many versions of Zoombrowser since the original digital IXUS came out in 2000. I've recently purchased IXUS 50 and I have installed the new Zoombrowser version 5.01. My previous version was 4.n.n and it would automatically upload the folder number and the file name. Thus fff_nnnn.jpg where fff was the folder number that was retrieved from the folder name. e.g. DCIM/123CANON. An individual photo would then be referenced as 123_4567.jpg.It's not a huge problem, but it's annoying that an existing feature of the download has been removed. I wonder whether other users have encountered the same problem and whether there is a work-around it (other than bulk rename)?

Cheers,
Guy
