Just a Common Grackle, but the sun hit right and he exploded in gold

This little guy was indoors in the zoo. Very friendly, and posed for a number of pictures. I think he was planning an escape - he just about jumped on me twice.

If I'm not mistaken, I think that is justabrownbird from the looks of it. Yup, brown feathers are the real give-away. Definitely a justabrownbird.
Nice shots.
The background of the brown bird photo, is that vegetaion of some sort or a green wall?

Green wall. They did a pretty good job at this zoo. Many of the walls were painted and made up to look like the natural habitat. One cage with some tiny monkeys really got me - there was a fine mesh as a cage, but the "bars" were real trees cut in half with the mesh between the halves. They had bent the branches over to form a "roof" of the mesh. From 5 feet away it looked pretty darned good, like there was no mesh.
Still a cage, though. :( But they did seem content at least.

The technical term in the UK for the second bird is an LBJ - little brown job. :)

Great shots. For a nasty bird the garkle shot is really beautiful, go figure.

I didn't know they were nasty. I just love their irridescent feathers - when they light hits them right, man, they are gorgeous. Are they mean like Blue Jays? Another beautiful bird, it figures.
Next you're gonna tell me that the Waxwings are mean, too. :( I'm still hoping for a shot of one of these birds, Cedar or Bohemian I'll take either one.

Well they are pushy and aggresive like the blue jay. They don't have the best rep..
