View Full Version : LinearSharpen switches to other open files....

When I have multiple 16-bit tiffs open and I run a LinearSharpen 342 I get an error message "The object "snapshot "temp hq"" is not currently available" and I need to stop the action. What appears to be happening is the action is jumping from one open tiff to another. So it starts on first.tiff and then after doing whatever the action does when it opens new temp windows it jumps to second.tiff rather than going back to first.tiff.
This makes it impossible to do batch processing of application (either "with open files" and "from a folder.")
This is on Photoshop 7 for OS X.
Thanks,
Jeff

It's true you can't have more than one file open to run LS, but you can batch process if, in the batch dialogue, you set both source and destination to folder. Or you can do something like I have done. I created a workflow action that runs LS (plus some other actions I always use to follow it), saves the file in a specified holding directory and then closes the file. I batch run this action with source=folder and destination=none.

Sally's right. You can batch process with LS342. One additional comment. If you have an action structured:
file open
ls342 option
file save
file close
This is pretty much as Sally described. Then you can choose both the source _and_ destination, otherwise you have to use the same destination folder each time. When I process a batch of images, I create a folder structure like:
..\jobname\linear
..\jobname\psd
All it does is avoid having to sort out the PSD files afterwards
