I am wondering if any one knows for sure who, if anyone, is still making CF cards that use the Hitachi controller that is supposed to work well (about twice as fast as the nearest other cards) with the D30?

I need to purchase some more cards for wedding photography work and I would like to get fast ones.

Thanks,
Darrell

Simpletech is suppossed to use the Hitachi controller. Amazon has 256MB cards for $95. Last week I went to Circuit city, they also carry them, and they matched Amazon's price for me.

Can you verify that the SimpleTech cards are still as fast as the reviews on Rogalbraith's site suggest? These seem to indicate that they are the fastest by a wide margin (nealry 70%). But I have seen some posts on DP Review lately that would indicate that they are no longer as fast and now are only as fast as a 12x Lexar card.

I e-mailed tech support at SimpleTech and he verified that they are using "the latest hitachi controllers." I don't know how recent the Hitachi controllers are and whether or not a change in them has actually slowed them down with respect to the D30.

Darrell,
I've only used the Simpletech cards, based on recommendations and the reviews of them when I first purchased my camera. I can say that I've been very pleased with them and find the speed to be very good. In my limited experience i've not run into any problems with having to wait for the card to finish writing. So it seems pretty fast to me.
