my name is Aaron i recently bought a Canon Rebel xt w/18-55mm lens kit. I've been playing around with it atleast once a day since the day i got it. im currently looking for a lens hood and was told by the site by a friend on another car forum. i have not found a lens hood yet since im reading up on info on it on this site, which by the way is information overload for someone like me. A link of the most recent pics i took is located below.
i would greatly appreciate anything you guys have to say positive or negative.

Welcome and you will find all the information that you can handle on this site.
Nice pictures, but I would park the car so that it does not pick up distracting reflections like the house and trees in your picture. Also, if you will stop the aperture down to about f/16 and increase the exposure time, it will greatly improve the depth of field. Also, take the picture from a greater distance and then crop the image.

I think you need to start shooting a bit lower (angle wise). There's too much sky in my opinion, which on a bright day like that isn't good for dynamic range in your shots.
Skies are brilliant backdrops for car shots if they're taken at dusk or when the light is softer. As it stands, the shadows on these are very harsh, which is typical for that time of day.
So if you insist on taking car pictures of this nature in bright skies, cut out the sky so it doesn't effect your meter reading, and try and get a touch lower.
Also, compose your shots from an angle, not just in front, as this enhances a car's angles and curves.
Welcome to PoTN, I hope you enjoy your time here.

Hi there Aaron, welcome to POTN. Don't be afraid to ask questions whenever you need anything. Since you're more into cars than photography, I can see that you had the job there of taking shots of as many of the cars at the meet as you could, and techincally, they're fine, focussed shots. However, there's a bit of a production line going on with all those front end shots.
Feel free to try out other angles (which you've got some of in there, and they look fine), and shooting from a kneeling position will help them look a bit more dynamic.
Again, welcome, and feel free to ask questions. You mentioned a lens hood. you should be able to buy one in any fairly decent camera store, I don't think they'd be too expensive for the kit lens.
Also look into a polarizing filter as well, it'll help cout down on excess reflections on the cars (windows will look dark and see-through instead of getting whited-out, and you'll see the true colour of the cars too).

How's it going Aaron. I like the pics. My best friend is on cb7.com, where from yonkers, new york. If you go to adorama.com you will find the lens hood there or amazon.com. just type in Canon Lens Hood EW-60C.

thanx again!!
edit: is there a book, site or section of this site where it can tell me the proper f stop, exposure and shutter speed is to be used. i personally have not messed around with exposure as of yet since i don't know how.

that the only one I found on amazon and other camera sites for the 18-55mm lens kit. I think canon only made one for the 18-55mm lens nghtrydr23.
