A710 IS vs. S3 IS

I'm debating which to buy. I'm looking for a backup for my DSLR and a general P&S to carry around everyday. Which one is "better"? and Why? any problems with batteries?

While I think the S3 is the greatest thing, it's not as compact as the A710 is but it also depends on how you'll carry your camera. I carry mine in the top compartment of my bag with my 20D or any uses I may have for it. I wanted zoom though and the A710 was still kinda big so I figured for that size I'll get the S3. Plus I found a great deal on it for less than the A710.

Speaking of, Circuit City has it for a good price and so does Dell. Makes me wonder...
