I have been aproached by the local school to shoot the school pictures next fall. In the past I have done a lot of community photo work (Community in Bloom, village anniversary (3 day event)).

Does anybody have any experience with this? Any comments would be most appreciated!

depending on the age.. i've done preschool photography for 2 yrs with my wife (gf at the time). Its very stressful, but yet fun. Parents is who in the end you have to deal with, especially if they dont like your images.. but get friendly with the school admin. make sure they get a free package... and tell them to promote to the parents. they rather listen to the teacher then you....

I was approached to do ours, but politely declined. The fellow who has been doing our photos distributes an order envelope with payment received up front before he takes any photos at all. If the parent or child doesn't like the first pose, they can return the first package and show up for "Retake Day." The photographer is also responsible for providing images to faculty at no charge and for giving a CD in comma delimited format to the yearbook adviser (me) for inclusion in the yearbook.

Thanks johnlo and liza for your comments!
I have to have a meeting with the school admins and find out more.
There are about 100 kids ranging from pre-school to junior high. It is a farming community - people are very friendly.
