The first one is my favourite. And I really like the ant on the leaf. :)

The second picture is a masterpiece.
I don't know if that "artistic" focusing was on purpose or by accident, but I deffinitely considder that pic a wall-hanger :P
Nice work.
I like the other pix too.

Cheers, everyone! I was a bit nervous of putting my pics up (you never know if someone's going to maul you) but I'm glad I did now.
The ant pic was a total fluke. I was testing out my new 100mm Canon macro on a plant and the ant just popped its mandibles over the leaf. I knew I wouldn't get a perfectly sharp macro handheld but I thought, 'what the hell - by the time I get my tripod, the little bugger will have gone!'
The singers in underwear are a band called Hawnay Troof. To be honest, with subjects like that you basically have to leave your lens cap on to get an undynamic pic.
cmM - nope, the focusing was deliberate. The subject is a tiny toy lion and I keep returning to it, I just like its face. I've been experimenting with the different effects very shallow DoF gives you and he's the perfect subject. I think cos I know the toy so well, I can keep learning with each set of shots.
Thanks again for the kind comments! :)

Good set of different types of pics, #2 gets me, and I really like #5 the intesnity on his face, the 2 singers in their panties are just funny
The ant shot is great but there is almost too much out of focus for me. Thanks for sharing these!

Yep, I know what you mean and partially agree. I still like the shot but I'll always look at it and think, 'what if I'd had my 10D mounted on my tripod?' Doh!
But for a flukey shot, I still like it. The shot below was a similar moment:

As for the manic drummer, that's my mate Malc. He's a champion gurner:

That's why I love gig photography, your subjects are doing something very cool 99% of the time. :)

Cheers, Lamplight! I'm still getting to grips with the Canon 100mm Macro. It's a beast of a lens and I haven't improved my technique enough to get the most out of it. Although I've already got my beady eyes on the Canon macro ringflash ;)
So much has become clearer to me since buying my 10D. I used to puzzle why photographers always went on about 'fast glass' and make tripod usage into some kind of religion. Now, I think I'm beginning to understand!
