I bought an Opteka grip for my 30D running with 2 batteries.
For the price $79.99 shipped plus 2 ebay batts at $12 something (shipped), its a real bargain compared to the Canon grip.

Only thing is, the OEM battery cover that attaches inside with the camera grip is sitting loose and I dont like when I hear something inside my camera. How do I secure it?

You can take it out and put it in your camera bag if it bothers you. Or you could take a small piece of paper and wedge it in with the battery cover to make it fit snuggly. The XT one seems to fit nicely. It shouldn't do any harm by doing that.

The grip has a place for it in the part that slides up into the 30D...I have the same grip and camera...you dont need to shove or push or anything. It fits in nicely and stay put when you take the grip on or off...

If you cant figure it out see if you can have someone show you cuz If you force it you will ruin something...

That's where I put in, but when i shake the camera from vertical to horizontal (or vice versa), I would hear it shake.

I used a little velcro. Works great!

Sorry you all have problems. This is one reason why, in the case BGs, I suggest Canon.

Canon batterie grip on a 20D. $160 and everyone pissed and moaned for 6 months that it was crap, canon issues a replacement, now only half the people piss and moan, no thanks, Ill risk my $70 on the optika and a half inch peice of tape that I havent had any real problems out of yet.

On the subject of this grip I just got the same one for my 20D yesterday and have to return it today because after inserting the battery sled and closing the door the camera would only come on and off intermitently. If I used my left hand to push the door on the camera would work, if i let go it would not.

47th ST photo is replacing it today, but my question is has anyone else experienced this problem? I realize that if I had put inside a piece of paper folded up it would have probably accomplish the desired effect just the same as pushing it in with my thump but is this common?

Very mature of you.

Then again not much to expect from someone with such a nick.

If you are using one battery it needs to go in the outermost slot regaurless of what the manual says. Make sure the spring inside the grip isnt twisted, thats the only thing I can think of.

Hmmm well thats a good idea except the problem is not within the sled. The problem is with the door once the sled is inside the grip, the outside door closes and snaps shut but someehow, it apparently does not send the sled deep enough to make full contacts inside. If i push it in with my left hand and hold the door tightly the grip works fine regardless if I have one or two batteries inside the sled or where the location on the sled is (frontwards or rearwards slot). I am sure that if I where to put something inside the sled between the sled and the door that exerted some pressure on the sled the contacts would then be able to work, They are exchanging it which is what I wanted since I do not feel that anything you pay for new should have to be adapted to made work, I was just curious as if to anyone else had experienced the problem or if it was a common problem.
