Did I Just See That!!

Tonight I went to the local Photography convention to take a look at the Mark II, while I was waiting in line drooling all over my self, because I have never seen so much L glass, and hearing 8.5 per second being shot off like a machine gun, the guy takes out the battery to see what it looks like and puts it back into the camera (or what he thought he did). Ten seconds later he turns the camera to take a vertical shot and the battery starts to slide out. Not a problem right???? WRONG!!! He went to grab the battery so it would not hit the floor and dropped the camera and the battery in the process!!!!

The camera seem to work fine after the fall, execpt for some scratches.

I thought to myself damn, I'm glad that was not me.

WoW!! I'd have cringed, that's for sure.

If the camera still works properly, then that is a tribute to its durability.

Still, if he'd have dropped my 10D, I'd have been inclined to drop him!! :)

In the film days, Canon ran an ad in the magazines showing an F1 that had fallen from a mountain. The lens broke, but with a new lens on it, it worked like a charm. So they do know how to make a sturdy camera... :wink:
But I don't think I want to test my gear that way :!: :shock:

I am expecting the return of my 100-400L from Canon any day now. (You know--the one I dropped). I am now uniquely qualified to comment on the unfortunate but inevitable truism: stuff happens.

The one positive aspect of the entire experience is that nobody was near enough to hear my 5-minute expletive-laced outburst, although a number of people did observe the jumping up and down, hair-pulling, tire-kicking, chest beating, falling-on-the-ground, feet kicking tantrum that followed.

Oh well. A couple months and $300 later, everything will be right with the world again. If all my problems were so easily resolved........
