580ex from 430ex

I have been shooting with the 430ex with stofen omni bounce for about a year now. I just upgraded to the 580ex and gary fong LS2. I had schduled two portrait sessions and an engagment, which was to be my practice with the 580ex and LS2 before my next wedding.

Well for varous reasons these session were cancelled so I have not been able to try out the 580ex and experince the differences in performance.

My question. If I shoot mainly in ETTL with the 580ex how much different will that be from ETTL with the 430ex. I just want to know what to expect.

No difference whatsoever. Using the Lightsphere you'll have less light available since it throws the light everywhere, not where you want it. Once you learn a little more you'll probably ditch the diffusers most of the time.

The only difference is the max power output and control dial. ETTL behaves the same. FEC +1 on the 580 is the same as FEC+1 on the 430.

Ok cool. Thats what I thought about the ETTL. I do ditch the diffusers from time to time..
