Hello!
Bit of help required here!
Thinking of getting a Pelicase 1510 or 1560 at the moment to lug my gear around to the sports events that I cover.
The current kit I take to games is:
3x 1d bodies
70-200
300 2.8
24-70
1.4tc
4 spare batteries
card reader
laptop (in a laptop "wallet")
laptop shade
rain covers
other bits and bobs
Anyone know whether all this would fit in a Peli 1510 with dividers? Or do I need to go to a 1560?
Its also possible that the 300 may change for a 400 in the not too distant future, which would create some additional space in the case for the sundry items.
Any other ideas of a similar style of case would also be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Paul

Thats going to be tough to fit. The 300 by itself will take up half the case, then the three 1D's..........I would get a 1600 series for all that
I take two one series, a 300 F/2.8L IS, 70-200 F/2.8L IS and a 24-70L in a Lowepro Photo Trekker to games.

Thanks Calico - I've tried to work out the depth of the case vs size of lenses and its really confusing me!
Might be a bit of a squeeze, however don't really want to go to a 1600 series as whilst now that might be ok, if I have to lug a 400 around in its case them I'm back to arm stretching carrying again!
How about if I put it in there, but jump up and down on the top until it all fits?:D ;) ;)

You need to determine the interior height measure of whatever the Pelican model you're considering, and see whether the vertical dimension of your lenses will fit vertically. Placing things horizontally is what eats up the interior space. I purchased a 1614 model with a clear understanding that it's going to be used mostly for in the house storage and when moving, not for hauling my gear on an assignment to assignment case, although I don't see why you can't.

I love my 1510 with the padded dividers. From how I pack my case, I would expect you to be hard pressed to fit all the listed gear in it. Fitting it in the case is only part of the challenge. The other part is protecting the gear inside from damage caused by other items in the case during transit.
I Placed all of my gear in a plastic bin of similar size and determined what size case to get. Had some foam to simulate the padding.

your not going to fit all that in a peli case
youll have to look at the 1600 series

Also, have a look at Cambags (www.cambags.com). They have a few pelicans in the archive.
I agree the 1500 series won't fit.

Thanks for the responses guys...........
Starting to wonder whether I might have more joy by taking the laptop stuff out of the equation!
Also, what are people's recommendations - foam or dividers?

I don't know about the other cases, but I have a 1510 and can say for certain that all that gear will NOT fit in it.

Dividers. The foam will fall apart after a while...

I use the 1520 with dividers , love it! Albeit it's packed to the gills, get's heavy quick, and I get looks like I'm a terrorist with c-4 enough to level a city!
You're right, leave the laptop to another kit and you should just about be all right, but it'll be a tight fit. I have to leave my 70-200 on the 5D for everything to work, but it's good cause it's my fav.
So, if it helps, I have 1 5D, 1 70-200 , 1 24-105 , 1 28-200 , 1 50 , 1 EX580 , 1 EX430, 3 extra batteries, battery charger, cables, flash battery charger, 2 omnibounce, cleaning kit, manuals, 5 flash cards in cases, and 1 kitchen sink. Oops, ixnay the sink!
Luck with that, you'll love the protection of the Pelican if you can make it work for your gear.

The problem with the foam is that once you get it cut just perfectly, your gear changes!
