I will be travelling to Italy next week from Canada and I was wondering if I needed any special converter for recharging 10D, x-drive and so on. I know that I need to purchase a simple plug, excuse the technical term,to adapt our North American standards. Do I need anything else. I have seen some stores selling converters that are made to work with equipment whose "watts" levels vary between different levels. They are referred to high/low converters. I don't think that I need one of those, but advice would be welcomed.
By the way I did search out the forum for previous posts. While I did not find too much on that topic, I did learn much nevertheless. Excuse my question if it has been posted before and blame my limited search vocabulary skills.
Thanks,

In Europe, we use commonly 230 V / 50Hz instead of 110V/60Hz
Just make sure your charger, etc, supports everything or else you need another one.

When I went to Germany, I used only an adapter plug for my 10D. The charger can input as high as 240 volts. Cant speak to the x-drive and so on, BUT, the unit (or "wall wart" on the unit's cord) should tell what the input range is.
Have fun.

Take a look at your charger!
There should be some label showing the allowed power input.
If it says something like 100-250V (like on most adapters for PC's), than it's safe to use and you might only need some kind of plug adapter (because the plugs have a different shape in Europe)
Best regards,
Andy

Both my 10D charger and that for my X's Drive II work fine on European voltages. The adaptor is all I need when in Europe.
