1/200 sec, f/13, diffuse flash (MT24X Twin Flash). D60, with Canon MP-E 65mm 2.8 1-5x macro lens.
The bug is a cuckoo wasp, so-named because they search out the nests of solitary bees and lay eggs in them.

That's a brilliant shot! I love the way you've caught the beautiful iridescence of the wasp. I'd love to see this image huge, like 10 feet wide or so.
On a completely bizarre note, it reminds me of the evil hopping aliens out of 'Quatermass & The Pit.' :shock:

Thanks, all. It helps to have a beautiful subject. To answer Bruce's question, I was only a few centimeters away. The MP-E 65m lens doesn't have much of a working distance, especially at 2x or more. This is not a very big wasp.
