Well it kinda depends on what you are going to do with it.

If you're going with the A series (~$170-$240), there is the A550, A560 and A570IS which are compact cameras (like the A520 and A530) that allow manual control and the A570IS has image stabilization.

The SD series (~$240-$350) are ultracompact cameras that can easily fit into any pocket but usually lack more advanced control.

And there's the S3 IS which is around $300 which has the most features but is larger than the afformentioned cameras.

Here's a good review site for digital cameras that looks into these in more depth: http://www.imaging-resource.com

Take a look at the A630 or if you can still find an A620 or A610, they are all great cameras and great bang for the buck. www.dpreview.com has a review of the A640 which is the higher megapixel brother to the A630.

Id vouch for the A620 or higher.... a little more bulky but can still fit in pockets and battery life is good. Also, you can find batteries almost anywhere...

A710 IS It's a Great camera that takes great pictures. It can be shot fully automatically or fully manually. I love mine! Check it out. ~$230

I'd also go with one of the A6xx series. Good controls, nice feature set, plenty good battery life and IQ, and the flip-out screen's ideal for those odd-angle shots.

A640 has more pixels than the A630, so costs more. Both have plenty for most purposes. For that matter, if I upgrade from my A620, it won't be for the MP count. A710's closer, I believe, to the A500 series, only with image stabilization..

If you just want clear pictures then any current powershot camera in the lineup will give you that. They all take fantastic pictures. What ELSE do you want in a camera? Is size a factor? Is manual control a factor? 'cause as I said, all of them take nice, clear pictures that will look great in computer screen resolutions.

I just hope this (http://www.smartratings.com/search/canon%20powershot/item/Search) will ease the burden of you making a choice. It contains all the reviews, expert and user, for every item that is available. Hope you get the right one for you.

Thanks for that link Dave60. One question, why is Powershots G series not considered a compact as S3 IS ???

Is it bigger build ?

But they have 10 megapixels at the moment but not much zoom though, and the price was kinda the same as S3 when it first came out.

Cheers

This could go on forever. For your stated wants and needs lots of these cameras would be just fine. Think about which features you really want, shop for a deal, get the camera, learn it and go.

No, good glass and good technique means clear pictures. More pixels mean bigger pictures.

.. sometimes when i take pics with my sissters A530 up close it blurrs it out.. and i just thought how i could make that better or which camera would be better? ..

It's not the camera, it the technique. There is a minimum focal length for every lens and you likely were shooting too close unless you were in macro mode. If you were, you may still have been too close, or maybe too far. Check the manual and make sure what you are trying to do is actually possible.

Looks like a pretty good price at Walmart, and you can have it sent to your local store for free and save the shipping if you are close enough. I've purchased cards at newegg.com after reading good things about them here and have had no problems. There really isn't much of a price difference between the 512M and 1G cards so you may as well get the bigger one. Don't know if you need one of the real fast cards with that camera - maybe someone that has one and shoots video can help. For stills, there is no need for the fast card.

Crazy:

I am looking for a fool-proof compact. What about the A560? Worth it?

Thanx
