Well I took Friday off work to wander around Brands Hatch and watch something called A1GP... quite impressive it was too! I left just after the A1GP afternoon practice... juuuust about avoided the mental Friday afternoon rush hour.
Here's a few compressed "forum friendly sized" photos...
#1 This happened within 10mins of me arriving... good ol' Formula Fords...

I saw a media bib'd up guy at Druids with a 300D and a Bigma....no offence but these days it seems as if it's who you know not what you can actually do.
Nice pics, when were you @ Stirlings ?

Well at least with a Digital SLR and big lens he had half a chance :p You're right though, as with many things in life...
Cheers, I was at Stirlings early on, for the morning Formula Palmer Audi session and "Rookie A1 Practice". Trying to avoid the harsh sunlight that comes around in the afternoon ;)

Cheers, yeh I was actually quite lucky in terms of "action", not always the case :p
I have seen the incident you mention on TV, it's team Lebanon... I wasn't at Surtees at the time though to actually "see it". If anyone was on the inside (or possibly outside for that matter) of Surtees they should have a pretty good chance of catching it nicely :)
Lets see how many A1GP Brands threads we get today/tomorrow then  Me and Dave got in there early

It is annoying when meets like this appear, from a marshals point of view, I see the same photographers all year round who know the score.
They know:
To take the piss on approach.
To have the piss taken out of them.
To get the hell out of the way when we are running with Fire Bottles.
To ask if it is ok to cross the track between sessions.
and generally have some track sense not sending text messages whilst standing with thier back to the track, that sort of thing.

yeah was a slight moment that. initially so much dust you honestly couldn't see where the cars where. One came into sight legged it to that one, just as the other two marshals got to him, spotted RSA down the hill a little further went and checked him out. Both drivers stunned but OK when they left us. I would imagine AUS is feeling a little sore this morning. Heard a team talking about somewhere between 120-130mph impact. Was kept on my toes all day.

here here..
pisses me off too as the real photographers who stick to the rules understand what to do and when to do it.. get shafted and don't get passes..
oh well enough whining..

Nice shots Az. There was plenty of locking up going on at Druids on Saturday too.
And you *always* seem to post something that includes car and gravel! ;)

More gravel shots? :D Nice work Az...
Re the general "whining" about the sort of people with Media access at a lot of recent events. I've noticed it too and it's totally justfied.
I do this purely for enjoyment, if someone one day wants to pay me for it, fine, if not then i don't care. But there are Photographers out there who deserve the access to these events and don't get it. Shooting Motorsport with a P&S from Trackside is extracting the urine and no mistake.

haha :D
I wouldn't be so suprised by it at a smaller club event but the A1GP!!! Didn't expect to see that  I would've snapped an "action shot" but didn't want to be too obvious I was taking a photo of him and not the track action
BTW, fair play to you Geoff - your attitude "I do this purely for enjoyment, if someone one day wants to pay me for it, fine, if not then i don't care" is one I echo entirely :)
