I'm shooting my first one of season today. I don't know why I'm nervous but I am. Maybe it's because my assistant (former assistant is more like it) cancelled on me at the last minute, and I'm left to do this wedding on my own. I was at the church last night for the rehersal (first time at this church) and I'm going to have to be doing a LOT of running. The only passage way from one side to the other is through the foyer, or in front of the alter which will be off limits. I COULD cut through the pews but it'll have to be WAY back so what would be the point? The church metered at F/2.8 (my fastest zoom) 1/30 @ ISO 1600, but the Pastor told me flash doesn't bother him... Good thing.
Wish me luck

I feel your pain! My season starts Friday with a 12 hour booking followed by another 12 hour booking on Saturday. There will be lots of battery charging and file backup on Friday night!
Great news about flash being allowed, great to have that on your side.
Good Luck!

Thanks... I just got back and my body is a wreck. I spent 9 hours on my feet between locations. But only one casualty. My Canon Flash hit the floor hard. Well the 30D and 24-70 were attached too.. but the flash took the most of it. Snapped the shoe right off. I guess I'll have to get that fixed quickly. Luckily we pro's know to bring backups. I had two, and never missed a beat. I just hate the fact that they were Sigma's. Not that they don't work well... I just missed being able to swivel the head 360°. But it could have been worse... I could have had NO backup. :D betime now and process tomorrow.

I had a flash disaster last year- even though it was fine, nothing really broke- it just crashed and everyone looked at me like _OMG- that didn't sound good!
I'm looking forward to the pics John! Every good and tired photog deserves a massage and a pedicure within the next couple of days after a wedding! at least I think I do :)

Glad to hear you survived--I hear the repair on a shoe isn't that hard, and cheap if you do it yourself.
Can't wait to see pics!!!!!!!
