Race to the Sky - NZ Rallying

Bright sunshine - no shade - and tons of dust..

but for two days over Easter every year the Cardrona Valley, deep in the heartland of Central Otago, New Zealand, becomes a Mecca for motorsports enthusiasts. Spectators and national and international media converge at the base of the Waiorau Mountain Range to witness drivers compete for the fastest time over 15km of smooth gravel surface, 137 corners, climbing from 1,500 ft to 5,000 ft averaging a 1:11 gradient.

all shot with the 30d and the 70 - 200 ( some with 2x TC )

The lack of sun glare on #1 makes it very nice. That and the Gigantic wing.

#7 green toyota and the huge wave of dirt is cool too.

i was begin lazy - i resized them bumped up the saturation and did standard USM.. did not check the images very well - it was 2:30 am.. LOL but i know what you mean having gone back to check them.. my bad..

yep but i have some bad news for you - race to the sky - it was the last one this year.
Unless a mircale happens..

Not a petrolhead, but enjoy good action shots. Yours excel. So many shots just freeze the action and show a static looking image. Not the case with these. Superb. Well done.

cheers IanB thats what i am trying to achieve - trying very hard to get the old boys in NZ motorsport to shape up or shipout.

I hate the frozen wheels and the parked car look - even thou these things are moving at 100 kph or more..
