I spent about a week from drawing board to this finished product which has helped my shaky hand a great deal. Even using the timer, I found myself actually moving the moon out of the frame while pressing for focus. With some raw aluminum stock, some black silicone, some epoxy, and a $12.00 Gepe cable release from B&H, my design became a reality. It works flawlessly, and I hope I succeeded in not making it look too homemade.

Opinions welcomed, thanks for checking it out.

These pics were taken with my old 1.2Mp Olympus P&S, not great, but viewable. I was attempting to fool with white balance, thus the bluish tint.

Mounting Details...I used the base of the Cobra Slave Flash Converter to house the 1/4-20 mounting nut for the single screw and brass positioning pin on the bracket.

I just love the homemade gizmos.

I think I just may conjure up something similar for my S3.

Thanks for the illustrations of the concept!

Thanks for all the comments guys. S3 owner hey Roddie? I seriously thought about priming and doing it in matte black just for contrast, but I settled on 400 grit on a sander for a brushed aluminum finish. Glad you all like it.
Now tomorrow, the rest of my problems should be over when my legs and ball head arrive from B&H and I retire my $19 Wal-Mart tripod to the attic. It's hard to get a good shot when the tripod wobbles if you breath on it!

I forgot to add for Peaceplanet........It works simply as a substitute for your shutter finger, just as a cable release did on us old-timers' SLR's of the '60s and on today's dilital SLRs eliminating movement by not having your hand on the camera, pressing to focus, and pressing further to shoot.

Best wishes all,
