Nice catch, those aren't terribly common that's for sure...unless you go to Colombia or Thailand really. I have NO idea where it was taken either...

Very cool. I never have seen the turbo version before. Flew into San Juan, Puerto Rico and saw about a dozen C-47s sitting near hangars. That was cool too.

There are two C-47s that fly out of Long Beach everyday hauling freight and mail to Catalina Island and up the coast. Last I heard there are still about 300 DC3/C-47s still in revenue service around the world.

Just a thought...you sure it wasn't a DC-6? Northern Air Cargo (NAC) flies DC-6s out of Anchorage to remote areas interstate.

Seen those too. Even seen a couple of old C-133's hauling cargo around the Aleutians. There's some weird planes!

It's probably much more efficient, but it sure destroys the lines of a classic aircraft...
