I own one of these, and the hood has been held on with tape for a while. I'm also away from it right now, and need to find out the model/part number for the hood so I can get a replacement.

Can anyone help me out, or point me to where I can find this info?

Thanks

I don't see that one in the current Canon EF lens lineup.

Is that the accurate lens description?

Yes, it's accurate. The lens was discontinued when replaced by the 70-200 f/2.8L.

Discontinued? There will be some in the Used Market. Unfortunately, it has little value, so most Used dealers won't want to fool with it. You might just have to go prowling around at the Used counters at big camera stores.

If you are lucky, it will take the ET-54 or some similar lens hood that is still sold.

Damn. They must have made those back when they were still carving lens hoods out of wood.

Yeah, I get splinters in my fingers from it all the time--it's that sharp <g>

I bought it when the EOS autofocus system first came out. I still have the EOS 630 and two EOS 1 bodies it was used on, as well as an A2E. They replaced the F1n and A1 bodies I had before that. In fact, I still have the F1n, too. The 80-200 has probably been to more countries and states than some people have been to counties.

edit: Oh, and I just ordered the hood from KEH, seems they had a used one in bargain condition.

When you get it, maybe take it to a good auto shop and get the front end re-aligned.

This is a handy site, and I've bookmarked it. But I'm wondering how often it's updated. Noticed that the 17-40 L zoom isn't there.

It says so right at the top of the page, "Updated March 8 2002."
