I wonder if anyone knows or has experience with running multiple copies of EE on one server PC? Is there any fundamental technical reason this cannot work?

Provided:

1. I designate different database names
2. Access HTTP & FTP through different domain names
3. Setup the different EE's in seperate directories

I might want to do this, perhaps to seperate public & private EE galleries, as well as other reasons.

I have not done this with EE specifically but I don't see why You shouldn't be able to do that.

You could also have 2 EE's in the same domain but just in different folders such as EE1 and EE2 just as long as You use 2 different databases.

The only thng that might be tricky is to get FTP to work but if You just create a new FTP user and point the home folder for the new user to the new EE site then it should be ok.

Yes, I have done this, you need a separate folder for the different ee installation and different MySQL database for each. You don't need different domain names unless you want them.

The only problems I encountered were if I had both admin panels open at the same time, I had no problems with ftp either
