Here's a photo I shot while out and about last evening. Taken with 1D/EF 17-35f/2.8L combo on tripod at 17mm. Mode=Tv priority, Tv=1/13, Av=f/2.8, ISO=800, Exposure adj=-1. Post processed in Aperture.

It looks very noisy to me. I think its a bit underexposed. For situations like this its better to overexpose and shoot raw where you can tone down the highlights. It'll help reduce noise a lot. Since you had a tripod, you should have probably opted for a slower shutter speed and a lower ISO anyway however.

Yes, it's a bit under exposed, but I had to shoot this photo with the fastest aperture possible, and highest shutter speed I could get... I was adjusting for the flag as it was waving in the breeze. I wanted a slower shutter speed and lower ISO, but I chose the better of two evils... that is without having to go to Photoshop.

Why would you avoid photoshop? Photoshop is the third best tool you have (after your body and lens).
