Hi,
I'm thinking of getting Canon 17-55 F/2.8 IS (after reading all the good advise from the wise people in this forum. :D). I'm thinking of getting a good Circular polarizer filter for the len as well and I saw this 'Hoya 77mm Introductory Filter Kit' which comes with UV filter, Warming Filter and Circular Polarizer filter on B&H. Have anyone of you use this before? This filter kit is cheaper (about $110) than the Canon branded Circular Polarizer (about $125) alone. Should I go with the Canon or the Hoya filters?
(Note: I want to thank you all for helping me to make my decision between 24-70L F/2.8 and 17-55 F/2.8 IS. All the posts here about these 2 lens really help me to make good decision regarding which len to buy)
Thank you.
Cheers,
Brandon

I thought about getting the kit too, but resisted. I just bought from B&H the Hoya UV Pro Multi-Coated filter for $90 and it was worth it. The Hoyas are a little harder to clean than B+W ones, but are really great. I'm not an expert, but I find that you get what you pay for and Hoyas and B+W are what buy just because I don't have a zillion dollars to spend, but I want quality. I've destroyed a couple of Canon filters already and they are not nearly as good as the Hoyas I have now. Good luck.

I personally prefer B+W. At least for the UV. I had the Hoya UV and I think for some reason I returned a lens for some reason and the sales guy and I got talking about filters. we placed the B+W UV filter and the Hoya UV filter on a white sheet of paper and you can clearly tell that the Hoya had a slight yellow tint to it. That sold me on the B+W.

Very interesting. I haven't seen that in my filter. But I will check since I have the Hoya and the B+W.

Thank you Suzie and Todd for your nice advise.
I actually think of getting both filter, a UV and a CP.
Do you know which model of the B+W UV that you are talking about, Todd? Can I get this from B&H? Since I'm thinking of buying the len from B&H, I figure I can order them together to save the shipping.
I read some people mentioned that we need to get a "slim" CP for a wide angle len. Do you think B+W also has a "slim" CP?
Again, thanks for any input and advise.
Cheers,
Brandon

I find B+W easier to clean than Hoya, I don't even notice them. Only use filter on the 70-200 2.8 IS not on anything else, i've never needed them. Forget the warming filter do that in PS. Polarizer I use very rarely but can be good on sunny days, get a decent one.

Brandon, It looks like I have the UV Haze 010 , I don't have the one with the Mutli-resistant coating, but I haven't noticed any problems with flare or ghosting which the MRC claims to reduce.
B+W does make a slim CP.
You can get these from B&H.
