I bought a book last week that was specifically all about photography lighting which of course includes flash, not started reading it yet but I checked quite a few out in the bookstore and that looked to be the best, cant remember the exact name at the moment but when I get home later today I will post it.

Ive bought and read over a dozen photography books in the last 6 months, that Photojournalism one you have posted above is very good well worth the money.

The best book I have read in the last 6 months is a general photography book called Understanding Exposure, great book and really makes you think about what your shooting and gives great ideas for creative shots.

Studio lighting book from Scott Smith is great for studio stuff, all portable lighting is is trying to emulate that with smaller gear. Link in my book thread in my sig. I haven't found a good book on portable lighting but I haven't looked, I just read here and played. Bounce lots off different surfaces, balance flash with ambient, use off camera lighting. Takes time to learn.
