Yes it does. Try taking a picture of a person's face in the middle, very unflattering. But overall a very fun lens to use.

Hey Scott how do you make your HDR pics look like that?

TheReal7
26th of August 2008 (Tue), 00:05
Thank you very much. I normally don't like going this over board with HDRs but because of the business it worked really well. I want to go back and some some multi angle panoramas to capture much more detail. I may even attempt a full 360x360 quicktime thingy. But that would be a BIG challenge.

Hey Scott how do you make your HDR pics look like that?
This is a 4 image HDR. I merged them with Photomatix using details enhancer and then finalized in Adobe Camera Raw. Boosting the contrast and bumping up the fill light.

I didn't touch the lights on the second (middle) one on the grandstand court, but darkened the sky a bit.

On the night shot at Louis Armstrong Stadium, however, I completely removed the lights - they were just too big, bright and distracting.

Edit: I just saw what you meant - the light in the upper right corner looks weird - I'll fix it.

Sure!

Canon 350D, 10-22mm at 10mmm (16mm)

ISO200
f8
5 second exposure

I didn't bother with tripod - just used mirror lockup and balanced on the ledge of my terrace. A bit of PP, levels, color, sharpening.

LOVE this lens. So glad that I bought it...mostly because of this thread.

Beautiful images! Can you tell me how you frame your images and how you get them to display at this size? I am using a 40D with my 10-22mm lens and they always display much smaller on my screen.

Thanks, Jim

Just a little sharpening. Further no PP except the framing and resizing.

Great shot - I really like it. Did you use a circular polariser? If not, that might have made the image pop even more :)

Now... Did you do this with extension tubes, or in post.....

Because that is an insane amount of bokeh for this lens.

What is your secret?:)

Thanks a lot! I used one (CPL), but the sun was directly behind me ... It is visible on other shots, though. It could be solved by using an HDR, but I just couldn't make it look realistic, so I used the single normal exposed shot.

It is taken in Rhodos: Monolithos. Went there last week as a vacation.

Thanks!

The picture was taken at Lake Isabelle in the Indian Peaks Wilderness State Park.

The park is located roughly 30 miles west of Boulder above Ward. It's just South of Rocky Mountain National Park.

The elevation is around 10,800 feet. The photo was taken in late June. There was a LOT of snow last winter.

I didn't do anything special. Only thing I did in photoshop is slight sharpening and bump in contrast.

This is one of the first shots I took with this lens. Just got it the other day :-)

Thank you!

I put frames on them via Flickr...they have a sub-program that you can open up and it will add a frame for you. You can do a bunch of stuff in there, frames, black and white, sepia, text, etc. I believe it's called Piknik.

I upload my photos at 1500x1000 to Flickr, and then post a 1024x683 or whatever on the forums so they look big and juicy. :)

WOW. I just bought this lens because of this thread. I haven't been able to take any real shots yet, just played around a little but I'm already highly impressed.

I'll post pictures when I get some half worthy of being posted.

Oh and if someone is a traveling man like me and has no time to wait on shipping from B&H just go to a nearby Best Buy and tell them to price match it to $710.00.

Hopefully going to Yosemite soon!
