You like the 8 better?! Personally I absolutely loved the 10, it's a quad and I love me some full bodied quads.

That's not to take anything away from the 8.

They're cheaper you say? Usually I feel shortchanged here, most stuff seems to cost a little bit more than I see people talkin about online.

Anyway I am just learning how to use it but I quickly found out you get a big shadow using the integrated flash, was not even thinking about that when I bought it. I assume this is normal, I even get it when the hood is off. Anyway I blew my photo gear budget buying this lens and I do not have an accessory flash yet, any suggestions for indoor shots as the lens still seems to need a good amount of light for high enough shutter speeds. I tried auto ISO and it's going up to 3200 for a 1/100th w/o any flash when shooting at 3.5 indoors.

Also to me the front element looks vulnerable, I feel like I should put a thin UV filter on it for protection when shooting outdoors is the filter ring going to show in the corners?

Yes, it is normal to have a shadow from the pop-up flash. A hot-shoe flash fixes that issue.

You should be able to shoot at 10mm with 1/10 shutter though, I would experiement with slower shutter speeds - at 1/10 and f3.5, you should be able to get some decent shots below ISO 800, pending light of course. But don't expect it to act like a prime in low light.

I have a 77mm Hoya HMV UV filter on mine, and there is no vignetting. I can even stack a second thin filter without any noticeable vignetting.

yeah i've been on that bridge plenty of times. i grew up in augsburg. its about an hour drive to koenig ludwig's castles. he was a crazy man, but he did have good taste in decor (well for back in the day in my eyes) :p how did you enjoy your visit to bavaria? hopefully you checked out Munich and all the great beer gardens?! ;)

The German speaking countries are the most beautiful on the earth; I love to visit them all-time.

We were in Munich for 5 days during Oktoberfest 2008, then I had my 1st taste of LOCAL German beer :) which were MUCH BETTER than the imported German beer in OZ! No wonder many people visit the Oktoberfest again & again. We did some day-trip from there. TOO little time and too many places... We'll be back for sure.

aw man thats very nice of you to say! i love germany, but at times the weather can get on your nerves. its the opposite of texas thats for sure. hot to cold haha. bavaria is by far the nicest "state" in germany IMO. the local beer is best in my opinion even churchs brew their own beer. my opa was a brewer for 20+ years he still makes his own schnapps. and i have to agree all the "import" german beer here in the states is usually made in canada and does taste better then busweiser and all the other "not so strong beer" but nothing can beat a fresh brewed dark beer. add a butter pretzel and maybe a weisswurst/bratwurst with semel. mhmmmm. now thats oktoberfest at its finest. :p although i will admit oktoberfest isnt as good as it used to be. much more tourists (not that its a bad thing) hard to explain basically WAY to many people are there now and its so crowded. you have to wait hours before you can get a seat in one of the tents. either way a great experience none the less.

i actually have a friend moving to AUS, ive always wanted to go always see the surfing/coral reef footage. a family friend brought a package of kangaroo jerkey back to the states for me to try. lets just say i will stick with cow/deer haha. although after eating it i felt like i could jump a foot higher then usual.

sorry for the rant :\ :lol: cant help myself sometimes get all excited...

(Unless you're the umpire :) )... so i'd suggest taking both the 10-22 and the 70-200 (24-70 would require moving about 2 seats away if i recall... )

(of course, you never know who might be 2 or 3 seats away, and then you'll wish you brought the 24-70 :)

Min Focus Distance: 15”
but that 15" isn't getting a full body shot.
Technically, you can indeed get a snap of someone only 1 seat away, but just not too much of someone in the next seat. (Just a head?, maybe shoulders?) hope that's helpful enough.

I would love to try this shot with a tilt shift lens. Get the same FOV with the 17mm and a 5D and avoid the distortion while getting the composition you mentioned.

Thanks! Yeah it is very nice, its a concept for a 2012 electric car I think. Supposedly its 90% the same as the model they'll put into production.

Just removed the rear plastic piece, it pops right out. Just keep it above 10mm and the mirror won't hit the back of the lens.

Not that I have noticed, but I put the plastic end cap back on the lens as soon as I remove it from the camera. I do that with all of my lenses though.

I've seen some people install an EF lens plastic piece to the back of the 10-22mm, but I never felt the need.
